PreK 4 – 2nd Grade

Early Elementary at ACS lays a Christ-centered foundation through strong academics, biblical truth, and intentional growth—preparing students for confident learning and lifelong faith.

Early Elementary

Early Elementary is the foundation of the ACS experience. During these formative years, students are equipped with strong academics, biblical knowledge and application, and the beginnings of leadership development. ACS is committed to building a healthy, Christ-centered foundation that fosters curiosity, confidence, and a love for lifelong learning.
At this stage, students develop essential social skills while learning to integrate biblical truth into everyday life. From day one, we intentionally build upon each child’s growth to prepare them for a successful transition into Upper Elementary.

Academic Experience

Students in PreK4 through 2nd grade are actively engaged in the learning process through differentiated instruction designed to meet individual learning needs. Our classrooms are relational, multi-sensory, and developmentally appropriate—honoring how young children learn best.

Instruction includes:

  • Learning centers and hands-on manipulatives
  • Role-playing, guided practice, and age-appropriate technology
  • Interactive lessons and proven instructional strategies
Literacy & Math Foundations

Early Elementary features a strong reading and phonics program that builds fluent, confident readers. In kindergarten through first grade, students learn to read; beginning in second grade, students read to learn—developing comprehension and critical thinking skills.

Math instruction follows the BJU Press curriculum, providing a structured, concept-driven approach that emphasizes understanding, practice, and mastery. Cursive writing is introduced in first grade and continues throughout a student’s education at ACS. Technology is thoughtfully integrated as a tool to support instruction and engagement.

Spiritual Formation

Spiritual growth is woven into every aspect of the Early Elementary experience. Teachers intentionally integrate biblical truth into daily instruction, guiding students toward a growing relationship with Christ. Each child is encouraged to reach their God-given potential and understand who God has created them to be. Students also attend monthly chapel to further nurture their spiritual development.
