Upper Elementary
The Upper Elementary years are a time of growth, responsibility, and discovery. Students in grades 3–6 continue building upon the Christ-centered foundation established in Early Elementary while being challenged to apply biblical values, develop academic independence, and expand their understanding of God’s world.
Academic Experience
Upper Elementary instruction emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and meaningful application of learning. Lessons are designed to build upon prior knowledge while encouraging students to make connections across subject areas.
Instruction includes:
- Hands-on learning with manipulatives and real-life applications
- Project-based learning and guided inquiry
- Thoughtful integration of age-appropriate technology
Core Academics
Students continue their academic development through a strong, structured curriculum grounded in biblical truth.
- Mathematics: Using the BJU Press curriculum, students build mathematical understanding through incremental learning, practice, and repetition while developing higher-level thinking skills.
- English Language Arts: Students engage with grade-appropriate novels and texts to strengthen reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and communication skills.
- Science & Social Studies: Through hands-on investigation and exploration, students gain insight into God’s creation and His design for the world around them.
Spiritual Formation & Whole-Child Development
Daily Bible instruction and regularly scheduled chapel services support spiritual growth and biblical understanding. Students are encouraged to apply Scripture to their daily lives as they continue developing character, responsibility, and leadership.
Physical Education is incorporated to support students’ physical well-being and reinforce the importance of balance and stewardship of the body.
